The GOAT (Greatest Of All “Treasures”) Sale is coming!

After a four-year hiatus, the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church rummage sale returns for the last time!

The GOAT Sale will be held in the parish hall May 5th and 6th. The sale hours are 9am to 4pm Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturday. As in the past, the sale includes household items, toys, crafts, books, dishes, etc. It does not include clothing.

Items with a value of less than $30 will be sold as “make an offer” items. Anything with a value of $30 or higher will be priced, but reasonable offers will be entertained. “You call it – you haul it” according to Leslie Coefield, the St. Barnabas rummage sale coordinator extraordinaire. Whatever is left at the end of the sale will be picked up and hauled away by a social service agency.

Proceeds will support parish outreach ministries. Formerly an annual St. Barnabas event, a sale was scheduled for May 2020, which of course could not happen due to the pandemic. After rescheduling and canceling several times, a storage container was leased to store donations that had accumulated. Needless to say, parish members have a backlog of “treasures” to pass on to others and this sale is expected to be the biggest yet.

This will be the last year for the rummage sale as the Women’s Group has refocused and will redirect their energies into support for parishwide ministries such as outreach activities and the annual Holiday Tea. Over the years, membership has declined and more women were working, making labor-intensive activities like the annual rummage sale harder to coordinate.
