Sun., Feb. 6: Electronics and Clothing Donation Event

Ida B. Wells High School is hosting a clothing drop-off and electronics recycling event in the north parking lot of the high school on Sunday, February 6, from 10am-2pm.


Funds raised will support the 2022 Senior Grad Night Event, a safe and sober celebration held each year for Ida B. Wells grads.


There is no charge to drop off your clothing and household items. Items accepted: Men's, women's and children's clothes, coats, shoes, scarves, handbags, wallets, fashion accessories, ties, belts, backpacks, etc; bedding, comforters, blankets, sheets, towels, linen, drapery, tablecloths, curtains, pillows, etc. All items must be clean and in sellable condition and be delivered in bags.


The fee for electronics recycling is $5 per item or $25 per car load. Items accepted: Computers, laptops, monitors (CRT, LCD), printers, scanners, fax and copy machines, keyboards, mice, servers, routers, hubs, networking devices, communication equipment, miscellaneous office machines, televisions, VCRs, DVD players, stereo and audio components, cell phones, PDAs, handheld games, cameras, telephones, miscellaneous electronics, washers and dryers, ovens and stoves.


Items that will not be accepted: Media (CD, DVD, floppy, VHS, cassette tapes), household size batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, button cell, etc.), fluorescent tubes and lamps, electronic and magnetic ballasts (non PCB only, must be post-1978), items containing freon (refrigerators, freezers, most water coolers, some dehumidifiers), fire extinguishers, mercury-containing devices (thermostats, ionization smoke detectors), PCB balasts, styrofoam.


Cash donations are welcome.
