Authentic Chinese Food Comes to Hillsdale

[Posted October 8, 2021]

Tango Crab, a new Chinese seafood restaurant, has opened in the space formerly occupied by Jade Dragon. Specializing in authentic Chinese cuisine and Cajun seafood, owner Annie Li, along with her husband and cook Hong Zhao, look forward to sharing their family recipes with the Hillsdale neighborhood.

Tango Crab cook Hong Zhao and owner Annie Li.

Li and Zhao have decades of experience in the restaurant business, although this is their first time as owners. Li told the Hillsdale News recently that they wanted to open their own business and that Hillsdale seemed like the right place. Both previously spent many years working in Chinese restaurants along 82nd Avenue, so the fact that there are not many Chinese restaurants in the Hillsdale area is a plus.

Visit the Tango Crab website to browse the menu, which ranges from hot pot to Cajun seafood specialties to Chinese restaurant standards like Kung Pao chicken and Mongolian beef. A party room in the back can accommodate up to 28 people. Want to bring your own seafood catch or special market purchase? Zhao will cook it up for you Cantonese-seafood style.

Li has kept the lounge and lottery machines from Jade Dragon days, but the exterior of the building has gotten a new coat of paint, the interior is refreshed, and the menu is all new. Tango Crab is open from 11am until 9pm seven days a week for lunch and dinner, take-out or dine-in.

Both owner and cook say they look forward to meeting their new neighbors and learning more about the tastes of Hillsdale residents.
