Nancy Bestor has been a key member of the leadership team at Hopewell House since 2022, when she was first hired as the finance manager. Before stepping in as interim executive director in June of this year, she served as director of administrative operations. Bestor has recently received her license as a residential care facility administrator.

During her time as Interim executive director, Bestor renegotiated Hopewell House’s Specific Needs Contract rate with Medicaid, wrote several grants, supervised the launch of a new website and publicity video, and adapted operating procedures to fit current organizational needs. The new Medicaid rates dramatically changed the amount of aid that

residents can receive, making it possible for more individuals in need to come to Hopewell House.

Prior to joining the Hopewell House team, for 28 years Bestor ran an independent retail business in Ashland, Oregon with her husband Bob. She served on multiple committees with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the board of the Ashland YMCA and Ashland Schools Foundation. Before moving to Portland, she founded and ran a book club for incarcerated young men at the Oregon Youth Authority in Grants Pass. Bestor enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling with her husband and two adult children, who reside in Portland.

Bestor shared, “I am privileged to work with a tremendous team—made up of staff and volunteers alike—who show up compassionately every day to provide care, food, comfort and security to our residents, no matter what the circumstances are that brought them to us. I am grateful for the work of those who have preceded me in this role, including most recently, Lesley Sacks in 2022, and before we reopened our doors, Scott MacEachern and Susan Hearn. I am honored to lead the Hopewell House community as we continue to further our mission.”
