Update: Portland Police announced on January 22 that the shooting victim has died of his injuries. The announcement identified the victim as Joshua Page, 35 years old.
A police investigation closed parts of the parking lot in the Hillsdale Shopping Center on the south side of Capitol Hwy for several hours this morning. Capitol Hwy through the Hillsdale business district was also blocked off. Many businesses had already planned for weather-related closures this morning. The street and parking lot were reopened and the on-site investigation concluded by about 9am.
A news alert from the police bureau reported that a man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the Hillsdale neighborhood. Police responded on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 3:27am to a report of a shooting in the 6300 block of SW Capitol Hwy. When officers arrived they found a male victim in a vehicle, who was transported by emergency medical responders to a hospital.
A mobile police command center was located in a parking lot across Capitol Hwy while police investigated the crime scene in the parking lot in front of the Hillsdale Cleaners and Starbucks.

Many businesses in the Hillsdale shopping center are closed to due to weather today. Basics Market opened at 9am, however staff at the store this morning said they expect to close early today. Einstein Bagels, Baker and Spice, Other Worlds have posted closure notices for today. Starbucks and Subway were closed as of 10:30am.
As of 11:45 this morning, PGE reports that over 1500 customers in the Hillsdale area are without power. Check PGE's website for updates.
